  • A regular meeting among heads of U.N. Agencies, Programmes and Funds will be an occasion to introduce newly-elected ones like UNESCO, WHO, and others from over 25 operations. Even the new U.N. Secretary-General, usually a first among equals, may need an introduction.

  • A high number of delegates in New York are about to return home with the changes at the Secretariat, the Security Council, and at national governments. Some will be seeking an international posting or designation to stay by the East River.

  • The anniversary of the International Declaration of Human Rights on 10 December is expected to raise controversies as a number of countries have questions on the composition of the Human Rights Council. Some may find it an opportunity to visit Roosevelt Island across the River in memory of Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, who chaired the group that produced the Declaration.
