  • Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will be visiting Syria end April to review with its President several delicate issues related to Lebanon and other Middle East questions. He had just returned from a visit to the same region, but different countries, as he attended the Arab Summit in Riyadh.

  • A one-day meeting of Foreign Ministers of several key countries, including members of the Security Council, will precede the launching of the International Compact on Iraq in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt on 3 May.

  • After limiting the change in the office of Disarmament Affairs to the name and placing it under the Secretary General's Office, there is speculation about the appointment of its new head.
