  • The next Chief of U.N. Environment Programmes will be selected on 1 April. A short list of candidates to replace Klaus Toepfer of Germany include a Norwegian, Pakistani, Indian, Costa Rican and German.

  • Cyprus may re-emerge on the political radar, now that the Greek government, like the one in Turkey, has expressed interest in resuming some kind of U.N. role.

  • The outcome of consultations between the U.N. Legal Counsel and a delegation of Lebanese judges is expected to be announced regarding the nature and scope of international assistance needed to bring those charged with the criminal assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri before a tribunal of an international nature.
