  • U2 rock star and anti-poverty campaigner Bono will be editing the July issue of the monthly Vanity Fair. His focus will be on Africa. How to balance between the interests of that magazine's mostly rich and famous constituents and the issues of the downtrodden poor will be interesting to watch.

  • Competition is heating up for the post of Executive Secretary for the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok and the same Commission of Western Asia (ESCWA) in Beirut. Both are at the Under-Secretary General level. Both are appointed by the Secretary General.

  • The General Assembly President will be trying to designate five "facilitators" to help out in passing through new reform proposals.
