• The U.N. Development Programme was asked by Rwanda to co-ordinate support for the first presidential and parliamentary election in a decade. It will be held next summer.

• Human Rights Day on December 10, commemorated by U.N. offices worldwide, will be the first for the new High Commissioner Sergio Vieira de Mello who just replaced Mary Robinson.

• Budget proposals on reforms including those on Information Centers will be considered by the Budgetary Committee of the General Assembly by December.
