U.N. Correspondents annual dinner will be held this year on December 8,
with a farewell to outgoing Secretary General Kofi Annan and welcome to incoming Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

Elected Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will be taking his oath of office
in mid-December; the exact date has not yet been announced. Mr. Ban has resigned his post as South Korea's Foreign
Minister.

More information is expected on the fate of long detained opposition
leader and Nobel Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, following the conclusion of a visit to Myanmar by U.N.
Under-Secretary General Ibrahim Gambari.
