• The General Debate of the Assembly is scheduled to open on 22 September with Heads of State and Governments in attendance, including the host country. Expect traffic delays.
  
  

• A two day special meeting on the Millennium Development Goals will precede the General Debate by two days, with another set of senior officials, including some of the same. Expect gaps in communications and a general promissory note.
  
  

• Shakira will be performing in Madison Square Garden around the same time as the U.N. high-level gatherings. It is not relevant. But our brilliant artists happen to collect more money for needy children in Latin America than most of those distinguished visitors put together. Expect great entertainment.
