CLIMATE CHANGE MEETING IN MOST CONVENIENT CLIMATE
|
Doha may not beat Bali in December, but it comes close. Plus, oil-rich Qatar government could afford to be more hospitable than Tsunami-hit
Indonesia.
Nothing substantive came out of this year's session. Lots of talk, lots of arguments -- all well-known and rehearsed by none. In conclusion,
a general draft covers up differences and sticks to generalities. The hotel bill was covered anyway.
Yes, there were even the usual protesters. Mostly political terrorists from Scandinavia. Sunshine in the Gulf is certainly more energizing
than freezing snow in Oslo. Anyway, at least it was agreeable and convenient for all. Everything in almost the same location. The only difference
is not between preferred tasks but better hotels. A "Framework for U.N. Climate Change Convention" is yet to be reached.
Remember Copenhagen? Or was it Hopenhagen at the time?!
Remember "Seal the deal" all over U.N. compounds? Remember Yves de Boer? Who replaced him, by the way? It's all a very distant memory. Yet those
same diligent climate change experts are still at it trying to accomplish a Fuccc!
